Understanding nbn Speed Options
At Arctel we offer a range of speed tiers to ensure that everyone has an option that is best for their needs. Each tier has a maximum upload and download speed, measured in megabits per second (Mbps), however this may vary for multiple reasons. When deciding on the right speed for you, it is worth taking the time to consider how many devices do you realistically use, the type of nbn technology available at your address and the plans available at your address. This article will explain the different speed tiers offered at Arctel and the factors that may impact this.
Arctel’s speed tier options
The plans we provide, and their benefits are in the table below. All plans reflect the maximum upload and download speed that will be available. When you search for your address, only the available options will appear.

Factors that may affect your speed
The speed of your service can also be impacted by external factors. A few of the main causes are listed below. Feel free to reach out to our support team if you have any additional questions on the speed of your service.
- The time of day – high traffic times can cause slow internet. This is usually in the evening between 7pm – 11pm for residential users.
- The number of people and devices using the internet at one time. If you have a high number of users, it is likely that you need a better plan to support the number of devices that are used.
- The type and size of content that users are uploading and downloading may play a part is slowing down services.
- The nbn connection type used at your address. The length and quality of copper wiring can impact the speed as it may take longer to reach your premises. The type of connection may also be impacted by extreme weather conditions such as heavy rains or extreme heat.
